Latino Conservation Week (LCW) is a great opportunity for folks looking to learn from and engage the Latino community with our waterways. This annual celebration takes place July 16-24 this year and provides a network of events and communication tools for all who are interested in participating or hosting their own event. During this week, community, non-profit, faith-based, and government organizations and agencies hold events throughout the country. From hiking and camping to community roundtables and film screenings, these activities promote conservation efforts in their community, and provide an opportunity for Latinos to show their support for permanently protecting our land, water, and air.
The goals for LCW are:
  1. Provide Latino families and youth with outdoor recreation opportunities near their homes.
  2. Demonstrate the Latino community's commitment to conservation.
  3. Partner with Hispanic community leaders and organizations to support local and national conservation issues.
  4. Inform policymakers, media and the public of the Latino community's views on important local and national conservation issues.
In this River Management Roundtable, Hispanic Access Foundation alumna, Tangy Ekasi-Otu will share some insight on her experience hosting and assisting with LCW events and highlight the variety of ways you can get involved.

About RMS River Management Roundtables

Each month, the River Management Society hosts virtual conversations with professional river, greenway, and water trails leaders, planners, and managers whose community, region, state and federal river will benefit from the experiences of peer-to-peer sharing. Our goal is to facilitate an open forum to support your work managing rivers. We work together to tackle common issues by asking questions, sharing solutions and building comradery.
