This webinar debuts a new guide to enhancing accessibility at hydropower sites, looking at legal requirements and regulations, the physical components of the site, as well as the process to get involved. Join hydropower and recreation professionals to discuss:

Christy Churchill - Duke Energy
Christy Churchill is a Recreation and Historic Properties Manager in the Water Strategy, Hydro Licensing, and Lake Services organization at Duke Energy. After earning her BA Architecture degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she worked as a Registered Landscape Architect in the private consulting field for 17 years. She has spent the past 15 years at Duke Energy and helps oversee 12 FERC Licenses, 29 Hydropower stations, and over 144 public access areas across North and South Carolina. Her job at Duke Energy is a great combination of her educational background and her practical experience combining aspects of both architecture and landscape architecture in her daily tasks. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, running, photography, and traveling, especially to coastal locations.

Hannah Volk - Hydropower Fellow, National Park Service Hannah Volk is a Hydropower Fellow for the Hydropower Assistance Program at the National Park Service. She is a graduate of Brandeis University with a degree in Environmental Studies and Music, focusing her environmental work on science communication and community outreach. As a Hydropower Fellow, she concentrates on communications and GIS database management. Hannah is originally from Branford, CT, spending much of her time growing up exploring the beaches and canoeing on local rivers, which has significantly contributed to her passion for the field. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and photography.

Mark Ivy - Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Mark Ivy has been with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for sixteen years working on recreation, aesthetics, wildfire, and other land use issues in hydropower compliance proceedings. He is also a recovering academic, having taught at Middle TN State and Penn State in their park and recreation management departments prior to working for FERC. Other related positions include Recreation Consultant for the state of North Carolina, SCORP planner for the state of Delaware, Park Ranger for Santa Clara County Parks, and Wildland Firefighter for CALFire. Dr. Ivy earned his B.S. in Natural Resource Planning at Humboldt State, his M.S. in Park, Recreation & Tourism Management at Texas A&M, and his Ph.D. in Recreation Resource Management at North Carolina State. He grew up in San Jose, Ca and has lived in a dozen states. In his free time, he enjoys nature photography, whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, hiking, and international travel. |

Building on the foundation laid by the Hydropower Licensing 101 Toolkit, this three-part series is designed for hydropower practitioners seeking an understanding of various aspects of hydropower projects and the licensing process. By the end of this series, new and experienced practitioners alike will have acquired essential knowledge and practical insights leaving participants poised to navigate the complexities of hydropower projects and the licensing process with confidence and expertise.
