Waiting for someone else to challenge the effects of cultural inequity?
The moment to create positive change in your river world is now, and it depends on you.

All RMS Members and members of our State River Managers Working Group are invited to a private virtual meeting on Tuesday, July 14th at 1:00 p.m. EDT about how we can all leverage today’s moment by examining our organizations with a diversity lens. The discussion will be led by:

    • Nathan Burrell, Deputy Director, Government and Community Relations, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation
    • Moses Chun, Outdoor Recreation Planner, NPS River Trails Conservation Assistance Program
    • Risa Shimoda, RMS Executive Director

As the topics of diversity and inclusion have returned to the forefront in our nation, Nathan will share what he is doing within his department to review hiring, promotions and evaluations with his employees. We hope his example will inspire you with practical, actionable ideas that can be implemented across agencies. This will be a private discussion that will not be shared on our website or other channels, so please weigh in on how you are improving (or would like to) the workplace culture for everyone.

All RMS Members and State River Managers (Working Group) should have received a link via email to join this meeting.
If you did not receive the link and would like to join, please contact Bekah Price ([email protected]).
