Online Map of Roanoke River State Trail Now Available in National Database

The River Management Society has added the Roanoke River State Trail to the National Rivers Project website, an online map and directory that allows visitors to plan river trips with ease. This national river recreation database now features the trail’s four river sections, 21 access points, and 25 reservable camping platforms nestled in the wilderness of North Carolina’s coastal plain.

RMS Announces 2025 River Studies and Leadership Certificate Recipients

Graduates begin careers in water quality, climate resilience, recreation, and environmental education

The River Management Society (RMS) proudly announces the 2025 recipients of the River Studies and Leadership Certificate (RSLC), a distinctive academic achievement made possible through a partnership with 14 colleges and universities across the United States. This year, 16 students have completed a rigorous combination of interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on field experience in river science, policy, conservation, education, and recreation—equipping them with the skills and insight needed to pursue careers in the study, management and protection of our rivers.

A new video series from the River Management Society (RMS) and the Interagency Wild and Scenic Rivers Coordinating Council provides a clear and concise introduction to managing newly designated wild and scenic rivers.
