This guide describes the management areas that Wild and Scenic River managers and partners should know and understand. Recently Designated WSR Video Training Series

The Recently Designated Wild and Scenic Rivers: A Training Series is a collection of nine short videos designed to support river managers, planners, and partners in managing newly designated Wild and Scenic Rivers. Developed in collaboration with federal agency staff, the series provides clear, practical guidance on essential management topics, helping viewers understand the big picture and navigate key responsibilities. Accessible on the RMS website and YouTube, these videos serve as both an introductory resource and a handy reference for ongoing management needs.

Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers (PWSR) Toolkit

This Toolkit was designed by the National Park Service and partners to provide resources for anyone interested in Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers at any stage of discovery. You may use it as a reference guide for Wild and Scenic designation, a how-to guide for understanding and completing a study, or a cookbook for post-designation success.

Protecting Rivers While Managing Forests Report

Published in 2026 by American Rivers and RMS member Lisa Ronald, this report explores forest stewardship on Montana's Flathead Wild and Scenic River as a case study which provides clear evidence that Wild and Scenic River stewardship and active forest management can successfully coexist over decades.
