Communicating Successfully – Practicing in Different or Unfamiliar Situations

River Management Roundtable
Sep. 27, 2021 | 3:30 - 4:30 EST

This is another in the River Management Roundtable Workplace Culture series intended to help us understand our natures and how we communicate amidst a variety of cultures. The more we understand how we all interface, the more effective we will be as colleagues and as a community of river managers. Are you a good listener (how do you know)?  What do you communicate without saying a word?  Do you code switch? Do you see others code switching around you? We’ll discuss how this common practice is used, how it serves us and those in our personal and professional spaces, and how we respond when we see others code switching.

About RMS River Management Roundtables

Each month, the River Management Society hosts virtual conversations with professional river, greenway, and water trails leaders, planners, and managers whose community, region, state and federal river will benefit from the experiences of peer-to-peer sharing. Our goal is to facilitate an open forum to support your work managing rivers. We work together to tackle common issues by asking questions, sharing solutions and building comradery.
