Course Description: This is a dynamic, hands-on water rescue course specifically written and designed for river professionals and others who work or volunteer in swiftwater settings. Emphasis is on identifying hazards and on RESCUE itself; both of self and others.  Thinking through rescues is also emphasized. This course includes all content from the American Canoe Association ACA Level 4 Swiftwater Rescue curriculum.  Although this course meets agency Swiftwater Rescue certification requirements for river guides and kayakers, the 3-day format allows for thorough integration of knowledge and practice of the skills that matter through hands-on field scenarios. Knowledge of moving in swiftwater environments and paddling experience is strongly recommended.  Please contact Tappan Brown ([email protected]) if you have any questions regarding your participation or the curriculum.

NOTE: Course fee includes instruction and instructional materials only.  Personal equipment, lodging, meals and transportation are the responsibility of the individual participant.

Instructors: The Sierra Rescue curriculum for this course is instructed by the staff of Sawatch Rescue, Denver, CO.
