River Managers seek to “Balance, Ecology, Experience and Access” in Fayetteville

Speakers invited for April 2027 Training Symposium

The River Management Society (RMS) has announced that it is accepting proposals from individuals interested in sharing their expertise and perspectives at the 2027 River Management Symposium April 13–15, 2027, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The event will bring together river professionals, watershed leaders, and outdoor recreation experts from across the country to share knowledge and explore solutions that balance ecology, experience, and access on rivers.

The 2027 program will highlight a wide range of river management topics, including restoration and stewardship, recreation and access, watershed planning, water quality, climate resilience, habitat protection, and collaborative partnerships.

“The relationships and insights from this symposium last long after the event ends and have been tremendously valuable in my work managing river recreation and access here in Arkansas,” said Symposium Co-Chair Darrell Bowman, Recreation and Access Coordinator with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. “The theme reflects the breadth of expertise needed to wisely manage our rivers, and speaking at the Symposium is an incredible opportunity for river professionals across disciplines and regions to lead the conversation.”

All early submissions (by Aug. 28) will be entered to win an RMS Crazy Creek Chair.RMS invites proposals for presentations, panels, roundtables, and posters that emphasize practical experience, innovation, and lessons learned in the field. Proposals are due Oct. 1, and submissions received by Aug. 28 will be entered to win an RMS Crazy Creek Chair.
